Ergon Energy Network and Energex are inviting feedback on how we best support rooftop solar with a proposed Dynamic Model Standing Offer for small inverter energy systems (IES) (0-30kVA) for a delivery date of mid 2026.

This new Dynamic Model Standing Offer supports smarter, more flexible energy connections allowing IES to maximise how much electricity they export, or import based on current network conditions.

What's changing?

If you are planning to install or upgrade small IES (0-30kVA), you’ll soon be able to choose from three connection options:

  • Dynamic Model Standing Offer (new and now cost free)

Our existing Static Model Standing Offer and Negotiated Offer remain unchanged.

  • Static Model Standing Offer

  • Negotiated Offer

What is a Dynamic Connection?

A dynamic connection allows eligible solar and storage systems to utilise more network capacity and only reduce their export or import limits at times of grid congestion. This helps:

  • Improve network reliability and utilisation

  • Support more renewable energy

  • Reduce the need for costly upgrades.

Be sure to watch our video on how a Dynamic Connection works and the benefits for customers:

Key Features of Dynamic Model Standing Offer

  • Export more energy: Up to 10kW per phase, compared to 5kW (or 2kW on SWER) with a Basic Static Model Standing Offer.

  • Minimum export guarantee: You will always be able to export at least 1.5kW, except in rare emergency events.

  • Install a larger system: On single-phase power, you can install up to 20kVA total (10kVA solar + 10kVA battery) without needing to upgrade to three-phase.

  • Note: If you are using a hybrid inverter with a dynamic connection on single-phase power, your total inverter capacity (solar + battery) must not exceed 10kVA. This means the combined size of your solar and battery inverters must stay within that 10kVA limit.

  • Import Limits: Set according to dynamic operating terms and technical standards applying only to enrolled storage and EV charging systems.

  • No network augmentation: The Dynamic Model Standing Offer applies only where no upgrades are needed.

  • Cost-effective: Makes better use of existing infrastructure, helping keep electricity prices lower.

Costs

Basic connections that do not require any upgrades/changes to our network are generally free of charge.

Our Connection charges are regulated and outlined in each distributor’s Connection Policy and ACS Price List, available on their network websites:

We are always interested in hearing the varied perspectives of customers, industry experts and stakeholders on a wide range of topics and issues including the Dynamic Model Standing Offer. Be sure to provide your feedback in our questionnaire below.
