Consultation has concluded

Queenslanders continue to be world leaders in embracing renewable technologies. As the demand for electricity grows in our homes and businesses, a distribution network connection is becoming the gateway to enabling the use of new renewable technologies and to access emerging energy markets.


At Energex and Ergon Energy Network we have been updating the information that supports our customer connections to better align with the electricity grid of the future. One of the areas we are focusing on currently is our Major Customer connections.


Are you a Major Customer?

Major customers include:

  • Large commercial customers connected to HV Distribution Network with installed capacity larger than 1 MVA
  • Embedded generating systems larger than 30 kVA and;
  • Real estate developments

Reviewing the Major Customer Connection requirements

We are seeking feedback from you on the drafts of the following documents:

The updated draft manual covers connection process and the related regulatory framework.

The new standard covers technical requirements relevant to Major Customer connections. It also aligns with the embedded generating system standards which are designed to assist with connection decisions such as adding generation, or considering a staged development.
