This consultation was for stakeholders of the Local Renewable Energy Zone (LREZ) pilot projects proposed for Ergon Network in North Townsville and Energex network in Caloundra.

The presentations shared in the LREZ consultations in August/September 2024 are in the Document Library. We also shared insights from our Queensland Household Energy Survey.

Following this and other consultations, these proposals have been rescoped. We are now taking a more targeted approach and creating smaller Battery Neighbourhoods in eleven communities across Queensland.

Leveraging the learning and knowledge from our other community-level battery programs, currently being delivered, we are working with the local Councils to install 30 community-level batteries in Energex's Caloundra and Ergon Energy’s North Townsville network zones. This will complement the community batteries being funded by the Australian Government.

The batteries are being installed now, into the 2027. Once installed, they will support our customers' take up of rooftop solar exports, and help us further develop the road map to an efficient and equitable customer-led renewable energy transition.

We have appreciated your thoughts, and ongoing feedback.
